Marcia Johnston joined Family Allergy & Asthma in 2019, with over 20 years of experience as a nurse practitioner in the allergy, asthma, and immunology field. Prior to that, she worked as a mental health registered nurse for 15 years. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Tennessee and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Memphis. She is also a board-certified nurse practitioner in family practice.
A Nurse Practitioner is a primary health care provider who works in collaboration with a physician to deliver care to children and adults. Nurse Practitioners are Registered Nurses who have completed additional education, have a master’s degree or higher and have clinical training in a specialty area. Marcia is specialized in adult and pediatric allergy, asthma, and clinical immunology. She has co-authored an abstract on the demographic and clinical characteristics of anaphylaxis. Her goal is to educate patients on their conditions and provide high quality, patient-focused health care.
