Family Allergy and Asthma Research Institute

Family Allergy and Asthma Research Institute is an integral part of Family Allergy and Asthma. Our research site, located at 1700 Bluegrass Avenue (across from Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital), specializes in research, education, testing and treatment of pediatric and adult allergy and asthma. We also are involved with studying allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, heartburn, hypertension, bronchitis, COPD, and migraine headaches. Our dedicated and Nationally Certified staff consists of Patti Hall, RN, BSN, CCRC; Director of Clinical Research, Research Coordinators: Lori Ford, LPN, CCRC and Bridgett VanVactor, RN, BSN, CCRC.

Family Allergy and Asthma Research Institute has been conducting clinical research since 1991. We are continually recognized for our excellence within the research field. Our site has state of the art technology, a computerized data base of more that 13,000 patients and we collaborate with most of the national pharmaceutical and clinical research organizations. All of our studies are closely monitored by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and both regional and national Institutional Review Boards to ensure the rights and safety of all who participate.

People participate in clinical research for a variety of reasons. We have been told by some of our participants that it gives them a feeling of contributing to the welfare of patients with similar conditions, that they get personalized care with close monitoring of health conditions, and have an opportunity to learn more about their own condition. Additionally, patients participate because it gives them access to free office visits, free physician exams, free testing, the availability of new medications before they hit the market, as well as reimbursement for time and travel.

We are currently looking for both pediatric and adult volunteers for clinical trials involving asthma, seasonal allergies and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). If you would be interested in hearing more about these trials or opportunity to participate in one of them, please contact one of our staff at (502) 368-0732.
